feeling good feeling great

ok, so today has been the first day in eight or nine days that i awoke without feeling absolutely dreading the day ahead due to illness. after raining steadily for a few days, the towns weather has rounded off and is fairly pretty today. the actual city of nosara is flooded and is most likely drying itself out this morning a bit and getting ready to get back to business. interesting how so many people live here in million dollar homes and a huge amount of people live here in a space that floods every time it rains heavily. seems like with a bit of community power something could be done to help the people that serve, clean for, and work for all the wealth in the area. weird. anyways, i have been eating oats, brown rice and lightly cooked veggies for a few days so the thought of a club sandwich with a milkshake for dessert sounds like bars of gold in my bank right now. i have lost some lbs. which is awesome. i miss my mommy. we are about to head into the high season which brings tons of tourists and property owners that visit two or three times a year. looking forward to seeing familiar faces and having social stuff go on again. it is somewhat like a very tranquil exile so far this season. not completely unpleasurable though. i have been watching a bunch of older programs and movies recently...murder by death, a fave from my childhood, wonder woman, incredible hulk, buck rogers and battlestar gallatica, the old one. fun stuff and interesting seeing what we thought was good special effects and acceptable story lines and gimmicks. i saw a wonder woman with leif garrett in it that was particularlly loose on the plot. fun though.

getting it together

so here it is, monday and i have been in the bed and close to the potty for five days straight. it was a crappy, excuse the pun, run of illness and i finally made it to the pharmacy where i paid right over five bucks with no insurance for the medication i hope helps heal my ways. not much to mention except i watched a lot of tv this weekend. i tried to go through the da vinci code and i was da vinci bored. kimora was too much for me, as is usual. i think i would have to shoot myself if i was her assistant. it rained a ton here so much so that my friend brendas whole compound was flooded extensively. it looks like a whole lot a mud. so not much to mention. much love to all and to all a good day.

sickipoo

so i have been totally ill for a few days now and have only just today been ok enough to walk away from the house for long enough to hang out online. i have been watching television non stop which usually i would adore but it has been a bit maddening. eating chicken broth, and ginger ale. i look like a waif model now. great diet but not the most fun. everything here is going alright. pretty uneventful. still in the rainy season so very few people around. watching movies, collecting seashells, working about 18 hours a week, just started doing some online work with a guy i met here which may turn into to something more lucrative and it would be something i could do anywhere. pretty cool. hope everyone is doing well. and sorry for the somewhat boredom central blog lately. just pretty tranquilo here.

sunday

i am up early today and it is a beautiful day. so far, rainy season has been pretty easy. we have had lots of fun times in the house during rainy spells but it has actually been really beautiful and sunny enough that you can run out and walk on the beach if you are concious of when the sun shines and when it looks stormy again. i am increasingly aware that we are amassing a lot of art and handicraft from the areas around us. any trip we take, we come back with lots of things. primitive folk art is basically what we are after, and masks. we are really getting a collection of masks of all different ilks. this is pretty much the same as when we visited. we bought similar items. today we are going to do crafts and watch bobby. sounds international, huh. not so much. we may comb the beaches for shells and drift wood for craft projects. hope all is well in the states. much love to all. dmob supreme

do you know the way to san jose?

so we took a trip to the country's capital and big city, san jose. it is very much so like a lower to the ground, late eighties new york city. we saw odd people walking around, performance art, scammers, seediness, junkies, park after park, art, mosaic, old architecture next to new and modern forms, shopping nonstop, and food that you cannot find anywhere else in the country aside from san jose. it was quite the experience. the botanical gardens we visited were other worldly with plants that we had never seen before compiled by a private gardener then turned over to the country for a tourist attraction. very beautiful. i have added photos from my trip onto my flickr account and hope all will enjoy. the traffic there was insane and there were so many one ways it was like a rat maze. by the time you got somewhere, you wanted a drink and a towellette for tears of joy and of irritation of not being able to follow any direction given . there are no copyright laws here so you would see puma, nike and abercrombie to name a few that were fakes. there is a free trade agreement with the u.s. that is under talks and many here do not want that to happen cause the u.s. will screw up the way these people live and make, as usual, the rich richer and the poor poorer. sadness. it is highly opposed by the people. from a distance i am still watching the political warfare going on for the seat in the white house. it all seems so weird to me. cant we all just get along. i am glad jodi is back in the saddle. thanks for the comment and i will try to blog more. it seems, i go through times where i do not want to be at the computer at all. ok, much love yo. bye for now...flickr pics under atarieyes,,,check em out.

thursday

sup yoyoyo. the power has been out in our cabana since yesterday at around fourish, we were out of water for a while. now i think we have water but no electricity. and we are totally into big love, the hbo show about polygamy. i love emily muskrat. i miss her and am thinking of her often. she and i shared some incredle times before i left the states. and i am looking forward to sharing new experiences when i get back with her. so the store i am helping out with, i am going to go to nicaragua and probably panama and pick up interesting art and handi-craft and resell it here in guiones. the shop looks so far very new age and asheville-esque. i will be adding something that is not there yet. and hopefully making some fun money to pay for my travels and maybe a bite to eat here and there. i am going to be learning henna as well and maybe doing that outside the door on morrocon mats with sytarist around, and incense burning, and people chanting and dancing with hoolahoops. international worldwide. so just a heads up, please everyone who reads this, go to youtube and type in hormel peta video and watch it. i have stopped eating pork. it is sad and scary but recommended viewing. peace be with you. dmob supreme

wacky wednesday

so things here are fine for the moment. it is beautiful and i slept like a bear last night. almost ten hours. it is sort of unheard of that i sleep that much but i guess i need it. i do not work again until friday night and saturday day. it is a light schedule but one that i dig. there is little to really post on. i started eating prunes regularly, i made a really yummy gingerbread with dark chocolate chips bread, i am going today to help set up the little store i will be selling stuff in. things are very chill here. noone is in town and it is extremely nice. seeing what is happening in the u.s. makes me want to try and stay here longer. who knows. if i could move my mom here i probably would. anyways, gotta sing gotta dance. bye for now. dmob supreme

monday monday

what up. so yeah, the election is freaky deaky and palin is a weird bot. it just freaks my mind that people are willing to sign up for more or what the past eight years have been. same crap different package. anyways, it is independence weekend here and they love a holiday. they get paid for it, get off early and extra, have parades and mucho cervasa. i have connected with a set of female twins here in costa rica and to the day reconnected with my high school bff's kelly and april who are also female twins. too crazy. it is very tranquil here right now. so few people are here that my boss is going to start closing on saturdays, and will close for over a week in october. exciting. i am looking forward to the rainy season but on saturday it rains crazy style, the power went off and we read and played solitaire by headlamp for hours until we went to sleep. i felt odd doing it but it was not unbearable. we will leave this property in january and step out and live elsewhere for a few months before our return to the states. what a trip it has already been. i have already learned a lot about myself and about the world and my world and friends and family and acceptance and my relationshiop and so on. oh, i love to shop. i know this now. regardless of how much older i get, i still enjoy shopping and to some extent will always enjoy it. whether it is for plants, or groceries, or art, and so on. have been watching big love and loving it. also, saw factory girl with sienna miller which was an excellently done movie that was pretty much overlooked completely. ok, share with me people. let me know what you are into so i can stay connected.

pop pop pop culture

ok, so i have been checking up on the pop cultre celeb world and i have some things to share. first off, i am incredibly happy to see anne hathaway looking incredible and together and with it on the cover of w after the recent scandals she has been linked with. news of the weird, pamela lee and micheal jackson friends. new kids album is a huge hit. nsync might follow their lead by getting back together. rhiannan did a cover of madonnas vogue for fashion rocks. and so much more. just a thimble full of fun and interesting info on what is important in todays world. i am already worn out on politics and it has not even gotten going really.

thursday morning!

good morning to all, i am up on a hilltop with views of the pacific ocean and jungle a plenty, writing a little update blog. all seems to be going well. i am waiting tables which is less than prosperous during this rainy season. the area seems like a ghost town with virtually noone here. the owner of the restaurant said it is mostly locals that live here all year that still come in. every year there are a few more. i feel certain the state of n. america is the reason why. anyways, my ebay head of buy and well has been ticking and i feel like i am going to venture back into nicaragua and buy up some handicrafts and sell them in a store here or/and back in the u.s. at christophers studio shows. there are so many unique items that we do not ever see for sale. odd. keeping my fingers crossed. the rainy season has been less than rainy for the last few days allowing christopher to go where he loves to be, playing and planting in the gardens of the villacortez. it is looking quite beautiful and just keeps on getting prettier. i am feeling more at ease and less neurotic. thats good news as well. things seem to be going well. i am feeling like there are two people that really read this so i love you moms, and emily i love you too. i just got back in touch with kelly mccall. so sweet she is and am enjoying writing to her and hearing from her. more later. for now....bye.

blogtastic

so our family is officially gone back to asheville, and it is officially raining a lot. combining the effects of the tropical stormshitting the coasts of the united states and the stuff going through cuba, and the fact that we are in the deepest part of the the rainyseason, where it rains so hard you think the roof is going to cave in, we are in a wet wet way right now. i am having little issues getting to the office to use my computer because it is a twenty minute walk and one drop of water on the laptop could endanger its livlihood.today i think we are going to do arts and crafts. there is really not a lot to report on except that i feel that i initially thoughti would be a new person when i came down here with new outlooks and no issues or hang ups. wrong answer. i am the same person with the same idiosyncracies that i had at home but here, i walk through the jungle feeling neurotic. i am what i am. that is a powerful lesson on its own i guess. the waiting tables gig is going slow. there is almost noone left in the little city we live in. most restaurants and even hotels close down during a large chunk of this time and reopen getting into high season which is november. our job on the villa cortezhas changed a bit in that it will end on this property in january. then we will find a place to stay for a bit longer, christopher will go back to the states, then i will probably stay a little longer till april, then head back to stop in atlanta hopefully for a few days, thento high point, then to asheville. we are already planning stuff to do when we get back like rehab our living area in christopher's studio, rejoining the y downtown, riding bikes more and walking more, and taking a trip to new york to see my life long friend emily spivey who i love and miss. enuf for now, breakfast is almost ready and i must eat and craft. bye for now.

update

so here i am in costa rica, i have been here since june 30th. it has already been quite the whirl wind experience and it seems like it has only just begun. i just started my job at marlin bill's, waiting tables. i am saving money to take our passport requirement trip in november. i am thinking we will go to panama. looking forward to that. it has begun to rain lots and lots here. i sleep like a baby for hours and hours and hours. i think sometimes that i would be able to sleep all day and night here if there was not interuption or the need for food. christopher got stung by a baby black scorpion. sounds scary but it is actually very common. we have seen lots of different sizes of them from tiny to fairly large. the sting only lasted a few minutes but it was scary. i dreamt last night of a black jaguar/panthercoming into our living area and chasing after us. breaking through windows, and climbing walls. it was wild but oddly not scary. i am definitely getting used to things hereand very much so enjoying my time with christopher. i have just begun reading his dark materials by philip pullman. it is the trilogy that begins with the golden compass.i saw the movie a few times and am looking forward to more detail of the worlds visited. the family we work for will be leaving costa soon. it has been an interesting and at times tense time for them and hopefully when they visit again in january, it will be more relaxed and pleasent. we will surely miss them, especially mia, the daughter. i have thouroughly enjoyed our time, learning dance steps, swim lessons, marco polo, watching movies, and playing different games. she is certainly a sharp tack.

saturday

hello to all, thanks for checking in. costa rica is beautiful and the family we work for is getting ready to leave next weekend. it has been six weeks and seems like two days. my fave kundilini yoga teacher here just went back to los angeles she will be missed. the last set she did rocked my body and left me sore like a marathon runner. crazy. very empowering though. the waiting tables gig seems like it will be nice to have something to go to....aka not overdosing on law and order on central american cable. they do play fox news at the restaurant all the time which makes me nauseous to say the least. it is moving into the rainy season here which can leave you wet and wild. last october, it rained for ten days straight. i feel like a lot of movie watching and ping pong is going to be in order. we can still visit the beach and pool and just continue the reign of wetness. i am at the clinic typing and have an appointment at 1 oclock so i have to run and create some product and get set up. oh, to the new viewers, flickr is a photosharing program online through yahoo i think. i am registered as atarieyes there so find me there and i think you have to ask to connect or something like that. check it out and see if you can get it to work for ya. bye for now. david a

nica trip

so to end my travelling tale of nicaragua, we went out with another couple saturday night and lived it up in the luxurious night life of nicaragua. not so glamourous truth be known. bbuuuttt, i did eat some ice or a snack somewhere along the night that made me extremely sick so i puked my guts out for all of the night and all of sunday until about six when the owner of the b and b went to the pharmacy and got me something. monday i woke up feeling better but very weak. i was a trooper though, and hopped up and gobbled down a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then to an incredible volcano which i have shown on flicker. it was huge and very high up. we shuffled through that and went to the grenada cemetary which was pretty incredible and grand. we got to the border, changed cars, did our passport stuff and headed home with only a bit of time to spare. we ended up being an hour and a half late to the rent a car place but our friend bob, stayed and waited for us ad even gave us a ride home in the rain. all is all it was an interesting trip with lots of cool and new sights to see. i am already looking forward to my next trip to either panama, belize, or hondurus. love to alllllll. dmob supreme

grenanda

i am currently at the clinic, sitting and typing up a storm on the computer. i am feeling a bit restless and glum at times. the esthetics thing has yet to take off at all. from what i have been told, you have to be here for a while before business picks up for ya. hoping for the best. i am not really in a groove here. i just hang out and watch television a bunch, swim in the pool which is beautiful and hang out with christopher. i am about to start reading the golden compass trilogy. cant remember the name. anyways, i think last i typed i was entering into grenada on our trip to nicaragua. grenada was packed together like sardines in a can. brightly colored facades with historical churches and parks.  we found our gay bed and breakfast with the help of a local named moses who wanted money for helping us and complained of the amount once i paid him. we got in and set our luggage in the room, got directions for an adventure and headed to mosaya which was about 20 minutes away. we drove around looking for the markets and a bank. two white non spanish speaking guys driving around a central american town trying to get directions. it was less than relaxing but quickly over. most of these places are so small you could just drive around and around and eventually you will find what you want. we got to an atm and then to the market. the old market was inside of old castle walls and was extremely touristy and clean and polished and not very remarkable. it was very myrtle beach. so we headed to the new market which is where we shopped. it was incredible crazy and people followed us around their little booths. they would ask what we were looking for, when we would say just looking they would try and hurry us out. very strange. stranger was the selection. everything in the arts and crafts forum from crazy piggy and bunny banks to jesus plaques to taxidermied iquanas and baby gators. one baby gator had a briefcase and cigarette both made of gator skin as well. loony. the seller called him the executive. he arts forum emptied into the rest of the market where raw meat was cut up and plentiful, there was all kinds of food and all kinds of shoes and belts, as well as plastic ware. anything plastic and american-ese was hot hot hot there. interesting that we were from the u.s. and searching for a piece of their culture to buy and take home where they were out buying up plastic walmart gear. weirdness. we ended up going back to the hotel after this experience and chilling out for a bit, showering from the third world market and resting. then we hit the streets again, drinking four mojitos and an appetizer for under five bucks, it was sweet. we found some good food which i eventually got really sick from, nonetheless, a delightful meal at the moment. lol. more to come later. the trip seems to go by so fast and yet so much to write.

nicaragua

ok, so we left nosara, playa guiones on thursday afternoon, late and got to liberia where we stayed overnight. the hotel was like a best western and the restaurant was some weird chain costa rica place called lib or rib and it had interesting graphics everywhere but we were just happy to be able to sit and eat and drink and rest for a while. it was trying driving in the dark out of our area, into nicoya, and then to liberia. nicoya, there was a main street that had been ripped up and there were not visible signs to let you know where to go. the streets were full of life and we finally got help from a young man named david who spoke a bit of english and helped us out of the craziness of nicoya. we got up early on friday morning and headed out. we just started driving to the border of nicaragua and decided to head to the rancon volcano and national park on this side of the border. we walked the park and got the steam pockets and sulphur springs as well as a mini-volcano. it was all very beautiful and very harsh on my new pumas. oh well. rugger wearhouse 7.00 surprise. good spending. on the way into the trails, i saw a pissotie which was very photogenic and quite glamourous. the border scene into nicaragua was kind of crazy and very third world. there was the costa side, with passport stamping and such, but the really crazy part was just walking through and showing one policeman after another our papers, walking in between trucks and then the other side, where we slipped the imigration officer twenty dollars to get ours stamped by going through a side door in the building, it was totally wild. there were people coming out of every direction at that stop and pretty much through out our time in nicaragua begging for money or selling something. baskets of cashews, baskets of snacks and cigarettes, hammocks, all stacked and balanced on to the tops of their heads. little doe eyed children getting as close to you as they can and asking for one cordobo and then looking so sad or smiling really big, which ever they thought might get them a donation. if you turned them down for that, they would ask for your water or food. this is sitting down at a restaurant in grenada. after a while you just get used to it. the first stop in nicaragua was san juan del sur. we drove about thirty to forty minutes to the little beach community and stayed in the most third world hotel ever. thirteen dollars worth. kind of skanky but cheap. we walked all around the area, even through the sketchy parts, until dark and then stayed pretty close to the boardwalk. the beach was nice, pretty but developed all the way up to the sand. boats at a distance in the water, very little in the way of waves. we drank 1.50 rum and coke all night and got offered cocaine by our waiter at dinner. we saw a woman walking on the beach with a spider monkey on her shoulder as a pet. watched a bit of the olympics opening at one bar, and ate ceviche and shrimp. in the morning we hung out and realized that we pretty much did everything there was to do in san juan del sur in one night. we did some shopping, drank some coffee and headed for grenada. the ride was simple, a ton of shacks and shanties along the way, rivas was especially funkadelic and poverty stricken. once we got to grenada, the ride in was incredible with beautiful trees and a breathtaking cemetary. once we got into the city, it was thick and wall to wall colonial buildings. very pretty and interesting but also very poor. anyone who stops to help you, every time you stop for anything, they want to make a bit of change, we had people want to watch our car for safety, when we would say no, they would offer to wash our car, and so on, and so on. i think that is where i will stop for now. the grenada leg of the trip i will write about next time. if you are not aware, i am posting pictures of my trip and travelling on flickr.com, my id is atarieyes. check it out. more to come later and thanks for checking in. bye for now. david a

back from nicaragua

hello to all, just a quick note before my laptop battery dies, we are back from nicaragua and had lots of fun except for some sickness on sunday, all went well. a very poor country with lots to offer for the traveler. i will have a whole entry or two devoted to the trip but have no energy in the ol computer right now. i am well and alive. much love to all for reading my blog. more to come later. david a

travels

so on monday, our official day off, we took a long bike ride to playa osteonel which was actually about a fifteen mile bike ride. it was pretty and interesting of a drive we had no idea. we saw a carcus of an eat up armadillo, and on the beach, tons of white ping pong ball looking hatched sea turtle eggs and even a couple of non-hatched ones. i found a piece from a turtles shell as well. the beach was a black sand beach with beautiful rocks all over in ruby red, purples and mustards dropped onto a background of charcoal grey. so neat. the vulture like birds were out and about eating any bits of baby turtle that were left behind. in more travel news, christopher and i will be making our first trip away for our passport requirements and in a true streak of adventure, renting a car and driving to and all about nicaragua. we are going to visit san juan del sur, mosaray, i think, and grenada which edges lake nicaragua. i love guerillas. positive energy for the trip. i have had crazy dreams about indiana jones style exits that i envision myself doing in nicaragua. peace be with us. more to come later.

subtle differences

so i have noticing interesting cultural differences between the states and here. the children are one of the greatest things to watch. they seem so much more independant than the north american children. on the beach, usually on sundays we will venture out for a day of sand castle building, or playing in the water, and i will notice large groups of family, i assume, together on the beach. they congregate and play soccor, and eat, and drink, and play in the water. all different ages and walks of life together. the children seem to be on a buddy system. the older ones, watch the younger ones. the adults seem to do their own thing. the children seem tougher and more able to be independantly entertained rather than constantly wanting something from target to pass another hour of horrible, boring and painful existence before their favorite program comes on their flat screen television. another thing seems to be the learning process of language here. there is a two year old on the property that we take care of that already speaks both english and spanish in the way any two year old would talk, but both languages with accent and new words/phrases coming up all the time. i was told that that part of the brain that allows ease of learning a second language is most fully accessed in the first four years of life. if used, the third or fourth language is more easily learned. if a child only learns one language, they have a harder time learning another one later. the women in this area seem to pour love over all the children whether they are theirs or not. it is very sweet and endearing.

new day tuesday

so after a bunch of fretting it feels like a weight is lifting in at very least dealing with and seeing clearly what is happening in my world. an obvious case of shock to my world here. i have only been here a month and i already have started a career in skin care that may be lucrative and the owner of the clinic seems persistent and positive about establishing me a regular group of people to work on and make money off of. i just have to stay positive and stick with it. i think on saturday christopher and i are going to la luna, a really nice restaurant for my birthday and our anniversary combined, it over looks the beach and sunset and will be a lovely time i am sure. so things here seem very interesting but it does seem that no matter how far you go away from home, your own mental glitches take the same flight and come up now and then regardless of how zen you think you are. my boss as the wellness clinic has advised me to come and sit for an hour every day just to be present and see people and make some connections as people circulate through the space. i will be able to email and blog every day almost. i also will be landscaping more with christopher starting tomorrow and for the next month, at least. we have a very large delivery of plants and statues and such coming in tomorrow to the property so i have to kick it into high gear to help out before abbie leaves. she needs to feel confidant about the new plantings before the rainy season ends. i thik i am losing more weight which totally rocks. and without a lot of gym time. my body just sheds it with my sweat. awesome. more later. bye for now.

birthday in nosara

my thirty seventh birthday is this saturday and i will be in costa rica for it. kind of surreal. on the upnote of it all, plastic surgery is a lot cheaper here so perhaps if need be, i can get a little nip or tuck to turn back the hands of time, one more time, and bring me into an early thirites, late twenties look. i am thinking almond eyes, puffed lips, some hair plugs and elf ears. that look seems fresh with the young people these days. so as of now, money seems to be a great concern for us. every day when we feel something going forward, like a new opportunity, it backfires and slows again and on the pay we are given, the only thing we can cover is our groceries. the trips out of the country that we have to do every ninety days, i have to tap into my savings for. hopefully the facial skin care stuff will take off, otherwise, i feel like i may not be able to stay the whole year and may have to come back and work in the states to help christopher with his remaining time here to complete his project of garden renovation. of course i will keep you all posted. more later...david a

saturday morning

i have had some trouble getting on to this site of recent but figured it all out and will be blogging again shortly. just letting you know i am getting tapped back into kundilini yoga and about to start up some landscape assistance with christopher, the skin care thing i feel is about to take off and it seems to be doing well. i am developing confidence and getting more comfortable with it. i have never made my own products before so it is strange at times. i miss everyone and once in a while wonder if i am just crazy for doing this. ultimately i want to learn from it so i feel i will get what i need if i persevere. more to come later, and much love to all. david a

one week anniversary

yesterday was one week in costa and all seems to be going well. after my post on sunday at the body clinic, i went to the beach and hung out all afternoon. the nicaraguan family that is connected to the family we work for had a birthday so they had an all day celebration on the beach. it was so thick with family connection and love, we both commented on how it seems absent in most american families to have such an open time with so many people connected to your family without annoyance or irritation. i got a bit sun burned that day. the color looks great though. the treatments did not go further than my post. i am still in a bit of shock that i have been here one week and already i have a job with someone asking me about how we will promote treatments, and when will this start and so on. it is kind of overwhelming and i still feel so ungrounded i do not feel confidant to step up to the plate and knock everyone away with treatments. the products are so questionable. there is little to say for the long lasting effects of home made skin care products. i think if one did it every day to themselves, with natural products then perhaps their skin would show improvement over time but i am unsure whether you can see a great difference before and after a treatment of using all natural components. open to learning though. i am glad buddy is doing well. and emily, nokie is buddy's mom. she is in south carolina visiting family who do allow dogs in the house. i am sure she misses him. what a sweet puppy. i miss bessie mae lots. the dogs here are soo different than house pets and there are very few cats cause the snakes will eat them up. christopher is doing well and teaching me bits and bits about plantlife here in costa rica, there seems to be prevelant plant life through out the area. lots of heavy usage of certain things. crotans, palms, ferns, they all grow out of the trash and on the sides of roads, people just grab them up and transplant them in their own yards. too interesting.

skin care sunday

i am now at the clinic and have done one mini-facial so far this morning. i have made product from avocado, oats, cream, almonds, teabags, strawberries and peaches, banana, and more. waiting for our friend brenda to come in for her treatment. i think the first one was pleasent but not tight. i will get it together. it has been a while since i have done such treatments. wish me good luck. looking forward to getting to the beach later on today. and fun time with christopher in the sun and salt water of the pacific ocean. loving it here. it does seem similar to life in asheville but in the tropics of costa rica. little issues that arise in regards to living, money, work, etc. but all the while in the jungle.

saturday afternoon

i have not even been here a week and so much has happened. i have been in talks with a wellness massage spa in regards to doing facials, backtreatments and the like. i would be creating the product by using local fruits and vegetables, fresh for every treatment. we are creating a menu and going shopping to get some items to play with. i am getting excited about both the experience as well as getting a little extra change in my pocket. we are eating such yummy foods and drinks. last night after working hard to make a proposed inventory for the products and treatments needed, i went and landscaped on the property we are taking care of. as well, we harvested a ton of different ferns growing off a mountain side and transplanted them into the gardens. we also got a ton of red gravel rocks delivered which will make everything pop nicely. i have developed an absess in my right eye and had to go to the pharmacy. the doctor was young and very cute and looked very official behind his desk. then we went into the examination room and when he got up, he had worn out jeans and black and white checkered vans on. he noticed that my tshirt was a threadless tee which was kind of wild. last nights sunset was tremendous and overwhelming to view. it is an almost 360 degree view from the beach. pretty incredible. the space we are staying in is going through a mercury retrograde-esque spell, keys missing, toilet clogged up, stuff breaking, or not working, it would be great for that to pass. i think it has the potential to be really nice and fun and sweet. i cannot seem to dry off, whether it is pool or ocean water or sweat. i stay damp. i have thus far attended two work out classes, one was jungle boxing and aerobics and the other was weight training. i want to keep it up and pump up my body. i will be posting pics so all can salivate over the heat of my new hot bod. ok, bye for now. have a great day. thinking of you all...david a

one bottle down

so we are one bottle of cab down at the cafe and the generous patron has stepped away and told us to order another and await his arrival back at eh cafe de paris and i am now blogging on his mac book. really sweet of him. so far everything is really incredible. my thoughts do extend to the fact that it seems man has raped and screwed the earth on all sides of the planet, even here it seems that the development is rampant, it does seem that the government is striking back and fining people or halting their works due to unscrupulous dealings. susan sarandon was recently in town and bought a ton of pretty things for her place from nomad, a lovely shop that our french friend veronique owns and imports for. i do adore susan so that would be lovely to bump into her.  i have been very thrifty so far, in my long three day tour but i have spotted a really cute pottery piggy bank that i may purchase. the coins here that you get from spending money are worth almost nothing, like less than our change in the u.s. so we may fill it up with that. our second bottle of red just got served so i must run and vivir la vida pura. mucho amor amigos!!!

new world life

second day in nosara, i have gone to grocery store where everything is really expensive, 4 bucks for ten clothes hangers, coffee is 6 dollars a bag, really good stuff though, ten dollar almonds, and so on. no issues in losing weight here cause i wont be able to buy a ton of food, also, some of it is funky. the yogurt here has an ammonia overtaste. yukkipoo. we are making really yummy thing happen though, every meal so far has had avocodo or pineapple and that kind of goodness. it is really beautiful here and very warm. walks on the beach in the later day definitely bring some of the prettiest sunsets i have ever seen, i am sitting at the cafe de paris in "downtown" nosara with a new found gay friend, christopher, he and i are drinking wine in a lush and lovely enviroment. having lots of fun and sweet mellow times. the plant life here is extreme, today on a walk i saw an armadillo. also, i bought an arizona bottled tea today for over three dollars. how refreshing. anyways, gotta run and drink wine. love to you all. dmob supreme

mailing address

I just got the mailing address in costa rica. There is a question whether the mail will ever actually get to me but go ahead and try. It is somewhat unreliable but I feel certain it comes through some of the time and will be a neat experiment in mail. The mailing address should look like this, DAVID ALEXANDER, CARE OF WANDERLUST REALTY 100 METERS OESTE DE HOTEL DE CAFE DE PARIS, NOSARA, GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA, CENTRAL AMERICA, P.O. BOX 5233. I have not actually asked them if I can mail stuff there but it should not be an issue. Anyways, there it is. Hope to hear from ya' soon.
Here it is, my very first entry in my blog. I am David Alexander and I am on my way to a rich adventure living in Costa Rica for one year. My partner, Christopher, is already down there and i am excited about our sweet reunion. I am currently in my hometown of High Point, North Carolina visiting my mother and close friends for the rest of the week. I feel certain the coming year will have lots of interesting and delightful moments to share and i hope you all enjoy reading and connecting to me and my experiences through this blog. I have never blogged before nor have I lived abroad so I feel certain it will take me a minute or two to get it together and start sounding interesting. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to sharing. Here's to a tropical and adventurous year ahead. Bye for now, David A.
