one week anniversary
yesterday was one week in costa and all seems to be going well. after my post on sunday at the body clinic, i went to the beach and hung out all afternoon. the nicaraguan family that is connected to the family we work for had a birthday so they had an all day celebration on the beach. it was so thick with family connection and love, we both commented on how it seems absent in most american families to have such an open time with so many people connected to your family without annoyance or irritation. i got a bit sun burned that day. the color looks great though. the treatments did not go further than my post. i am still in a bit of shock that i have been here one week and already i have a job with someone asking me about how we will promote treatments, and when will this start and so on. it is kind of overwhelming and i still feel so ungrounded i do not feel confidant to step up to the plate and knock everyone away with treatments. the products are so questionable. there is little to say for the long lasting effects of home made skin care products. i think if one did it every day to themselves, with natural products then perhaps their skin would show improvement over time but i am unsure whether you can see a great difference before and after a treatment of using all natural components. open to learning though. i am glad buddy is doing well. and emily, nokie is buddy's mom. she is in south carolina visiting family who do allow dogs in the house. i am sure she misses him. what a sweet puppy. i miss bessie mae lots. the dogs here are soo different than house pets and there are very few cats cause the snakes will eat them up. christopher is doing well and teaching me bits and bits about plantlife here in costa rica, there seems to be prevelant plant life through out the area. lots of heavy usage of certain things. crotans, palms, ferns, they all grow out of the trash and on the sides of roads, people just grab them up and transplant them in their own yards. too interesting.

What a great week...yes, I heard that Costa Rican families are just culturally strong on familial bonds and allowing outsiders into their celebrations and daily lives. Just go with the flow with the new freshly made potions. They will work; because nature is the natural and purest form of ingredients. Most products are derived from plant and flower bases anyway. We are having a fun time. Sewing, going to get the grandkids, making sock and glove toys for them. Made Katie a purple glove dog. Made Jack a Zebra Horse Worm. They picked out the gloves and or socks and decided on the type of animal and picked out the button features and stuffed them. Today we will make each of them another one. Sweet fun times. Good food, local barbeque, pnb and jelly, blueberries fresh picked, peach icecream, fresh slaw, cucumbers and tomatoes...not a lot of sweets. Tonight we cook porkchops, veggies and cut up lots of fresh veggies again. Clint and Mariah will come over. We are keeping their kids all day. Called Scott and Dede. Buddy did really good at their house.....until Scott would not get up and take him out really early yesterday morning; so when he finally did get up, Buddy had left him a surprise on the floor right at the door. Dede laughed and laughed. She loves him and said he is so well behaved and calmed down now. Joan is in NY this week with friends. We are just enjoying talking and porch time and reading and sewing and just being together. So happy you like your new home and that you are already being introduced into so many options....just think: that is what is supposed to be happening to you two NOW. Grab every opportunity and relish it. You will learn from each experience and gain knowledge not available in the USA up to now. Buddy was happy at the kennel, Dede said. Fred and Jane's dog Buddy likes me to pet him. He is an all outdoor dog. Well, keep up the good work. Thanks for the phone message. Love it. Saved it. I saved last 5 messages you left for me before leaving USA and play all of them and two new ones over again daily to smile and hear your voice. Luv you two, too. Nokie
We are having a good week here, too, and often mentioning you two. Lots of rest, talk and sewing on the new quilt pieces. Today going to Camden to couple antique shops and eat afternoon meal out as treat. Back home to put a backing on a lovely antique quilt top they found at auction. I mended all the tears and it is so beautiful....old feedsack material in the dresden plate pattern. Talked to Zoe; she wanted me to take cat friend had to get a home for; I told her I could not; so she asked Nana and she is taking it. Zoe is so happy. She said this is her happiest summer of her life. Mona called and is well. Sent photos of copper flowers. Beautiful. Hope you are enjoying your new home and feel the love around you there and from here. We miss you and want you to be very happy. Nokie
Hey, Dave, enjoying the blog so much. Would love to hear what a day is like from sun up to dusk and what all you do,see, eat, hear and feel. Also, would be good to see photo of you and Christopher. Seems like so much longer than two weeks; but I imagine you are ultra occupied and enjoying the pace and the slipping right into your new lifestyle with different options than you had in Asheville and Swannanoa. All is well on homefront. Good to be home again. Buddy is so cute. He is down to 25 pounds, ideal for him, said vet. Short hair cut except for curly, long haired ears. House and yard looking great. Not lost a single plant yet this year. Scott and family well. Zoe fine. Scott and De planning to have her a little party tomorrow night with her friends in the neighborhood. I have been invited to her family birthday party on 26th, day before they leave for vacation. Zoe and Scott went shopping and Zoe talked Scott into buying Sheila four picture frames and card for Zoe to give her mom for her birthday. Scott has a big heart. They went to Claire's the mall, pet store, had pizza and just filled the day full with togetherness. That made both of them happy. Scott and Dede said hello. Zoe said hello. Buddy said arf arf to his friend who let him out off his leash. Family all well in SC. Already planning next trip up here in Aug. and mine there for Labor Day weekend.
I am looking at budget seriously and going on and applying for a passport. Then if it works out the trip should materialize. I will be in a state of waitfulness. If I go on and clear up some of taxes and college money now I might can pull back enough for other half of trip if you want to treat me to half. Sounds hopeful and will keep me excited. Looking forward to hearing from you. Buddy and Nokie
